Bengali is native to the region of eastern South Asia known as Bengal, which comprises present day Bangladesh and the Indian state of West Bengal. With nearly 230 million native speakers, Bengali is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world (it is ranked fourth in the world). Bengali is the main language spoken in Bangladesh; in India, it is ranked as the second most spoken language. Along with Assamese, it is geographically the most eastern of the Indo-Iranian languages.
Hindi is classified as a language belonging to the Indo-European family of languages. It comes under the Indo-Aryan division of the Indo-Iranian branch of this family of languages.
Of Persian origin, the word Hindī (ہندی) comprises Hind" India", and the adjectival suffix ī. Hence Hindī translates to "Indian". In modern times, Hindī as taken to mean "Indian" is chiefly obsolete; it now specifically refers to the language bearing that name. Hindi is the mother tongue of about 340 million Indians.
Urdū (اردو, historically spelled Ordu), is an Indo-Aryan language of the Indo-Iranian branch, belonging to Indo-European family of languages. It developed under Persian and Arabic, to some lesser degree also under Turkic influence in South Asia during the Delhi Sultanate and Mughal Empire (1526–1858 AD).
Persian (local names: فارسی Fârsior پارسی Pârsi) is an Indo-European language spoken in Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan and by minorities in Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Southern Russia, neighbouring countries, and elsewhere. It is derived from the language of the ancient Persian people. It is part of the Iranian branch of the Indo-Iranian languagefamily.
Tamil is a Dravidian language spoken predominantly by Tamils in Indiaand Sri Lanka, with smaller communities of speakers in many other countries. It is the official language of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, and also has official status in Sri Lankaand Singapore. There are about 46 million speakers of Gujarati worldwide, making it the 26th most spoken native language in the world. Along with Sindhi, it is among the most western of Indo-Aryan languages. Gujarati was the first language of Mohandas K. Gandhi, the "father of India", Mohammed Ali Jinnah, the "father of Pakistan".
Nepali (Khaskura) is an Indo-Aryan language spoken in Nepal, Bhutan, and some parts of India and Myanmar (Burma). It is the official language of Nepal. Roughly half the population of Nepal speaks Nepali as a mother tongue. Many other Nepalese speak it as a second language. About 40 million people speak Nepali.
Nepali goes by various names. English speakers generally call it Nepali or Nepalese (i.e. the language of Nepal).
Sanskrit (संस्कृता वाक् or short संस्कृतम् is a classical language of India, a liturgical language of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism, and one of the 23 official languages of India. It has the same status in Nepal as well.
Its position in the cultures of South and Southeast Asia is akin to that of Latin and Greeki n Europe and the Mediterranean( the Greco-Roman World) and it has evolved into many modern-day languages of the Indian subcontinent.
The Burmese language is the official language of Myanmar. Although the government officially recognises the language as Myanmar, most continue to refer to the language as Burmese.
